95 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Inspired and subtle, Montee de Tonnerre combines straightness and accuracy of flavors: it will have to be forgotten in the cellar. (2022)"

94 points Anna Lee C. Iijima (Wine Enthusiast): "[$65 list] Tangy streaks of lemon and crisp yellow cherry introduce this pure-fruited, spine-tingling Chablis sourced from a premier-cru vineyard just a stone's throw from grand cru sites. Rich and weighty yet lifted by a crush of chalk and stone, the wine is fantastic young but should hold well through 2030. (Feb/Mar 2022)"

91-94 points Jasper Morris, MW: "From three plots of, which Pied d’Aloue is the oldest (1935). Clear pale fresh colour. Very intense if quite backward, steelier than the Mont de Milieu with superb grip at the back. Not just the intensity, but the balance is there. This is a Chablis of enormous power and intensity, which finishes on a crisp marine bedrock. No wood on this one. (Sep 2020)"

93 points Andy Howard, MW (Decanter): "Classic Montée de Tonnerre with some driving mineral notes and firm acidity to keep the ripe fruit in balance. Very elegant with stony, flinty notes on the aftertaste adding an extra dimension to the pristine tree-fruit flavour. Drinking well already but with a long future ahead. Drinking Window: 2022-2028. (Oct 2020)"

91-93 points / 'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 2.5 ha parcel of 35+ year old vines - two thirds of the blend is from Chapelot and the remainder is from Pied d'Aloup and Montée de Tonnerre proper; the Pied d'Aloup vines were planted in 1935). An elegant array is comprised of citrus rind, mineral reduction, quinine and white flowers. I very much like the intensity and fine detail to the highly energetic and overtly stony middle weight flavors that terminate in a clean, very dry and youthfully austere finale. This is lovely though in contrast to the Fourchaume, a wine that's going to need at least a few years first. Drink: 2027+. (Nov 2020)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "2.15 ha in three parcels. Some of the oldest vines of the domaine are here with 80-85 years of age. An important part to the domaine – the average age of vines here is at least 40 years of age. Almost all tank elevage for this wine. Once more a fuller nose but this time more freshness and citrus. Silky, wiry-muscled, mineral, love the texture and growing intensity of flavour. The last notes with a faintly tannic accent – very long. A wine to wrap yourself up in – so good! (Jan 2021)"
