94-96 points Wine Enthusiast: "This classed growth estate has seriously improved in the past 10 years. Today, it is producing great structured Cabernet Sauvignon with considerable richness as well as impressive long-term tannins. Showing concentration and depth of flavor, the wine is going to age for many years to come."

95 points James Suckling: "This is a fine-tannined and racy young wine with blackberry, blackcurrant and light mint aromas that follow through to a full to medium body with long, polished tannins and a persistent finish. A classic and classy young wine. 74% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot and 1% petit verdot. Drink after 2025. (12/6/21)"

95 points Georgina Hindle (Decanter): Heady and seductive on the nose with touches of graphite, blackcurrant and cherry fruit. This is lovely, you get a sense of understated power, smooth and layered on the palate with wood spice, liquorice, menthol and gravel/wet stone notes and a core of ripe black fruit. Tannins are supportive - supple and softly gripping giving this a structured frame and drive the flavour from start to finish. Still very much taught and knitted together, just beginning to show what it's made of. One to buy and age. Great typicity. Tasted twice. Drinking Window: 2027-2044. (Jan 2022)"

95 points Jane Anson: "(74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot). Super concentrated sweet oak aromas with roasted coffee, cocoa powder and ripe plum and fig fruit. Complex, and inviting. Sweet creamy blackberry flavours. Powerful tannins and lush, sweet fruit flavours flood the palate. Apart from the pronounced tannins, this is pleasurable even now, but it has the structure to hold for decades, and needs probably 10 years before it will taste of its best. Already the oak and fruit are well integrated and married together. Very long palate-flooding, if youthfully tannic, finish. Exceptional. Drink: 2027-2046. Alcohol 14%. (10/26/21)"

93-95 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "In this vintage we have here a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. It has a great colour in the glass, an opaque crimson-black. Beautiful fruit expression on the nose, very pure and fresh, with black cherry, damson and plum, as well as a little floral twist. The palate is very correct, very pure and focused, with great tension to it in keeping with the style of the vintage, supporting flavours of dark chocolate and creamed plum, draped over a ripe and tight-knit bed of tannin. Lightly mineral, with a little bitter-earth note, and stacked with tannic grip, this is a very impressive effort from Batailley this year. Even though this estate has been on the up for years, this has to be one of the best vintages yet for Batailley. Well done. (Jun 2020)"

94 points Rod Smith, MW (TimAtkin.com): "(74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot). With an aroma very similar to the Lions de Batailley, with perhaps a little more oak apparent in its spiciness and smoke. Nevertheless still plenty of ripe black fruits to scent under the spicy oak. Wonderful mouth-flooding layers of flavour with supple fresh fruits, floral and chalky hints, integrated cinnamon oak, graphite and earth. Complex and very long. A terrific vintage for Batailley. Wonderfully well-balanced depth of fruit to oak and with freshness and juiciness of fruit. Long supple finish. This feels as though it might be curiously approachable (for a Batailley) in relative youth, but it will only really begin to show its supreme quality and balance in ten years from now and it will last for decades. (2022)"

94 points Peter Moser (Falstaff) (2/23/22).
