96 points James Suckling: "This is so balanced and refined and polished. I love the berries and blackberries and flowers on the nose. Full bodied, with super well-integrated tannins and a long, long finish. So much there. Racy and gorgeous. Give it three to four years to come even more together. (1/15/11)"

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$82 list] The celebrated Poggio alle Mura Brunello delivers hearty masculine richness and deep layers of sassy spice that are offset by plush blackberry and cherry nuances. The wine shows solid structure that will soften with careful cellar aging. (Apr 2011)"

92 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "[$82 list] The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Poggio alle Mura emerges from the glass with a burst of tar, smoke, licorice, earthiness and wild cherries. The sheer intensity and muscle of the fruit saturates the palate from start to finish. The 2006 is an especially round, seductive Poggio alle Mura. A few more years in bottle should help the firm tannins soften. The Poggio alle Mura was vinified in steel and aged predominantly (90%) in French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2026. (May 2011)"

92 points Wine Spectator: "[$82 list] A bruising, powerful red, packed with plum and blackberry, but also stiff tannins. This will require some time to come together, but there’s adequate sweetness up front. Best from 2014 through 2027. 250 cases imported. (4/20/11)"

92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "[$82 list] Good medium red, a bit less bright than the classico. Deeper and earthier on the nose, showing more oak and less lift today. Then sweet, silky and lush on the palate, broader and weightier than the basic Brunello. This initially displayed less clarity and definition but seemed to gain in energy and depth as it opened in the glass. Finishes with sweet tannins and serious weight and length. (Jul/Aug 2011)"

17.5/20 points Stephen Brook (The World of Fine Wine): "(14.5% ABV) Modern-style Brunello, with distinct aromas of torrefaction. Rich and velvety, sumptuous and plump, with splendid concentration and depth of fruit and some charred oak. Perhaps it lacks some typicity and purity, but the tannins are formidable without being too extracted, and the fruit quality is exceptional. Good length. (Issue #33; 2011)"
