96 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "Aux Combottes is closer to Morey-St-Denis than it is to Gevrey-Chambertin and is surrounded by Grands Crus, making it one of the best placed Premiers Crus in the latter appellation. This cooler site has produced a superb wine in 2018, showing the concentration and depth of its old vine source, but also the freshness of the nearby Combe Grisard. Drinking Window: 2023-2030. (Oct 2019)"

92-95 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Fresh mid purple colour, decent weight of fruit on the nose with a fresh peppery ripple through the middle. Sweetly ripe but with some fresh red fruit behind and good acidity. Otherwise the fruit is playing around a whole raspberry-based palate. Fine long finish. (Nov 2019)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes 1er Cru includes around 30% whole bunch and is matured in 20% new oak. This has a reserved but detailed bouquet, not as charming as Arlaud’s Chambolles but conveying a wonderful sense of mineralité. The palate is very detailed, with fine tannins that frame the layers of black cherry and raspberry fruit, and segues into a slightly peppery, very harmonious finish. This is wonderfully composed. Drinking Window: 2023-2048. (Jan 2020)"
