94 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "A deep, dense wine, the 2005 Solaia is still in its infant stage. The cool vintage produced slow-maturing wines. Nowhere is that more evident than in Solaia, a wine that retains exceptional freshness. Graphite, plum, smoke, licorice and menthol meld into the dark, brooding finish. In 2005, Solaia is a bit more refined than Tignanello, but both wines are impressive. Drink: 2015-2030. (Dec 2015)"
93 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2005 Solaia is elegant and refined, yet it remains incredibly primary. Still, it is hard not to admire the wine’s layered expression of blue and black fruits. The oak remains prominent, but I am confident the wine will come together with bottle age. The Solaia vineyard is one of the most unique terroirs in Italy, and the wine has a track record of developing beautifully in bottle, even in smaller vintages. It will be fascinating to follow this Solaia as it matures. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2023. (Jun 2008)"
Robb Report: "With this Super Tuscan blend, the Antinoris have once again achieved near-perfect Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Sangiovese. Marked by a floral nose of violets and lavender, this vintage roils with flavors of blackberry, coffee, and cocoa, while its finish shows a pleasingly cool granite minerality. (10/1/09)"
